Client in Profile – Welcome To Thornbury

McKenzie Ross Insurance broking & risk management

Sitting right on the border of Northcote and Thornbury, Welcome To Thornbury is an exciting new venture by the team who brought you Mr Burger, Homeslice Pizza, Brunswick Mess Hall and our favourite Fancy Hank’s.

Designed by Therefore Studio and executed by Switch Project Management, they’ve transformed a former Morris Minor factory into the southern hemispheres first permanent bar and food truck park that is already proving to be a popular spot on sunny Melbourne afternoon’s. Licensed for over 700 people, the indoor space houses a huge bar and a beer hall, while the outdoor space has been constructed to feel like a public park, with bench seating and plenty of greenery.

“We wanted to transform this derelict space into something the area could be proud of,” co-owner Daragh Kan says. “A beautiful park-like environment, where you can enjoy a drink and grub from Melbourne’s best food trucks.”

The space is a convenient spot to try all the food trucks you’ve been curious about but haven’t been able to check out. Each day up to six different food trucks set up shop, with more than 40 trucks cycling in and out during the first month of operation, with a great mix of new (Ramen on Wheels, Brazilian Bites) and established (Los Diablos, White Guy Cooks Thai) trucks.

With food options changing every day, and dozens of beers and ciders on tap as well as cocktail jugs such as their signature “Trailer Park Tea”, what other excuse do you need to get down to Welcome To Thornbury and enjoy the sunshine with a group of mates this summer?
